Hello blog readers!
Well I finally made it out of Georgetown last Friday. Luckily I made it out a day before a massive snow storm hit that canceled many of my friends flights. I love being home and being able to relax without worrying about school. The Sunday that I came home a huge blizzard hit and coated our driveway with eight inches of snow that my mom and I had to shovel. This was definitely a new experience for me but we had fun with it.
This Tuesday, Heath, Thais, and their little Wheaten terrier Violet came to our house! We have been visiting and eating, of course, the past few days including a standing rib roast dinner with creamed onions, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes and Yorkshire pudding as sides. Last night we went to Caroling on the Commons in downtown Shrewsbury, but the freezing cold weather drove us out of the festivities to Starbucks before the end of the singing. Tonight we are going to the Christmas Eve service and tomorrow Ash, Courtney, Maddie, and Eva come making it a full house! I can't wait for my family to be reunited.
I am having trouble uploading the pictures so you can check out my pictures on facebook or on the link to my mom's blog!

Psalm 69
" 1. Save me, O God,
for the floodwaters are up to my neck.
Deeper and deeper I sink into the mire;
I can't find a foothold to stand on.
I am in deep water,
and the floods overwhelm me.
I am exhausted from crying for help;
my throat is parched and dry.
My eyes are swollen with weeping,
waiting for my God to help me.
......
14. Pull me out of the mud;
don't let me sink any deeper!
Rescue me from those who hate me,
and pull me from these deep waters.
Don't let the floods overwhelm me,
or the deep waters swallow me,
or the pit of death devour me."
for the floodwaters are up to my neck.
Deeper and deeper I sink into the mire;
I can't find a foothold to stand on.
I am in deep water,
and the floods overwhelm me.
I am exhausted from crying for help;
my throat is parched and dry.
My eyes are swollen with weeping,
waiting for my God to help me.
......
14. Pull me out of the mud;
don't let me sink any deeper!
Rescue me from those who hate me,
and pull me from these deep waters.
Don't let the floods overwhelm me,
or the deep waters swallow me,
or the pit of death devour me."
I love the Holy Spirit's reminders and perfect timing! I praise God for the encouragement and comfort He gives me and his presence in my life even when I don't realize it!! I pray for joy and celebration in my daily life! I know He will bring me out of this tough time.
19 Days until I go home! I can't wait. :)

Happy Thanksgiving!
Readers,
Happy Thanksgiving! This is the first Thanksgiving in 19 years that I spent away from my home, which was very sad and strange. Luckily, I was still with family! I spent this holiday, one of my favorites, with the Pietrangelo family. I felt so blessed that even though I was away from home I had a family welcome me and celebrate with me. Demi also got to come with me because she didn't go home for Thanksgiving either, which was very fun and I am glad she got to hang out with some of my family!
Happy Anniversary to Ashley and Courtney as well! I love you guys and miss you.... i wish we weren't so far apart! I have really noticed how much I miss my family this year! I hate that we are not all together.
I am so thankful for all of my family and friends because honestly I definitely would not have made it through this year without their support and encouragement! And I am just so grateful that they all still stick around even when they have to constantly put up with me. I am also so thankful for the challenges that God has placed in my life this year, because it has truly shown me that God works our weaknesses into His glory! I am so thankful for mine and my family's health! I am so blessed to have all that I have and I never want to take it for granted. I pray that God would show me ways to use the ways He has blessed me to bless and love other people!
Can't wait for Christmas because the whole family will be together!

Deep Breath
Does your life ever get so out of control that you need to constantly remind yourself that God is the one in control of your life not you?? Ya my life has been crazy for the past few weeks! I sometimes feel like God gives us these crazy weeks or months to remind us, when we think that we can handle everything, that we are HUMAN! and we need him EVERY day!! Ya I definitely got that message loud and clear! A couple weeks ago I was just in a crappy mood for some reason and I couldn't shake it, but then Jenna came and her contagious happiness and kindness rubbed off on me... We went to Dupont which is definitely our happy place! I can't wait until she goes to school here next year!

So I have shaken off the bad mood but I am sooo stressed! I have so much stuff to get done for next week and before the end of the semester it is insane! But I took a mini-vacation with the girlies this last weekend and headed to New York to visit TINA!! It was a blast and let me tell you it is not a good idea to try and see all of New York in one day! Your feet will hate you eternally.... but we had fun, especially Melissa who had never been to New York before. Our time included Central Park, authentic NY pizza, F.A.O. Schwarz, and FORLINI's the best Italian ever!! Oh ya and I learned that Tina has a bajillion cousins... think My Big Fat Greek Wedding only Italian.... every where we went Tina mentioned her cousin that works there or that does this... crazy Italian family!! :) well I will conclude with some pics from NY (facebook has all of them!):

Peace. Love. THREE WEEKS TILL CHRISTMAS BREAK!

Justice and Peace Studies
So everyone as you know I am taking a Justice and Peace Studies class this semester and I am going to be very upset when it ends. Hopefully I get into my teacher's other class next semester because I have love the subject and think they are very important concepts to discuss. This was one of essays that I have written for the class about Southeast DC, I hope you enjoy it because I enjoyed writing it:
Dirty, dangerous, and unimportant are just a few of the words used by outsiders to describe Southeast, DC. The Southeast is the most crime-ridden and poverty-stricken quadrant of Washington, DC. Government officials and non-profit organizations have directed funds to improving the situation of Southeast, but no positive change will be seen or experienced in Southeast until the stigma that is associated with the area is dropped. Attacking external perceptions of Southeast, DC is a necessary step in changing the economic and social issues within the area.
I recently took a bus tour of DC, offered by the Center for Social Justice at Georgetown University, which focused mainly on Southeast. Crossing over from Northwest, where Georgetown is located, to Southeast, I was expecting to see an immediate shift from clean streets, well-manicured lawns, and prestine buildings to trash-filled sidewalks, overgrown lawns, and dilapidated buildings. Shock set in when I looked out the window and did not see run down buildings but buildings that looked similar to the ones I walk by everyday in Georgetown. Father Kemp, my tour guide, addressed that the expectations that I had are consistent with most of the population’s expectations for what many people call the dangerous or bad part of town. Father Kemp even referenced a travel guide that blatantly told people not to venture into Southeast and especially not across the Anacostia River. Fodor’s Travel Guide states, “Northwest also has most of the important landmarks, although Northeast and Southwest have their fair share.” (“Washington, DC Travel Guide”) This advice given to many tourists clearly excludes any history that can be found within Southeast, such as Fredrick Douglass’ house, the Anacostia Museum, and a myriad of other celebrations of African-American history in the city. The intentional exclusion of such landmarks in travel guides and guided tours reinforces the stigma that has been placed on that quadrant.
Southeast clearly has an abundant and vibrant history that could help revive the area if it was cultivated and appreciated. On the tour we visited only two of the historical stops in Southeast, Frederick Douglass’ house and the Anacostia Museum. Both structures directly refute the idea that Southeast lacks important landmarks, yet tourists and residents of other quadrants usually do not even know such landmarks exist. Even my tour guide claimed that there is a “huge divide” between quadrants, yet I kept questioning whether that divide was made by misperceptions. Just driving through the area I felt like I was in familiar neighborhoods. We crossed over a river that is just like the Potomac, drove past an enormous chair that is similar to the one that can be seen in front of Duke Ellington School of the Arts near Georgetown, and saw numerous brick housing structures that were just as nice as the Northwest’s million dollar real estate. Comparisons like these reminded me that I was not in a different world when I entered Southeast; I was in my own backyard.
While many misperceptions exist about Southeast, most of the poverty and crime statistics are unfortunately true. Unemployment, violent crimes, and poverty are highest in Southeast compared to DC’s three other quadrants, which is most of the reason why tourists do not visit the area. Poverty and unemployment, though, are not a problem only in Southeast. DC has the highest child poverty rate in all of the United States and an unemployment rate well above the national average. (So Others Might Eat, 2007) Much of this poverty is concentrated and blamed on the neighborhoods in Southeast. Moreover companies do not want to invest there, leaving Southeast with only three supermarkets and two sit down restaurants (Denny’s and IHOP). The only way to break the cycle of neglect and poverty in Southeast is to break the stereotype that investing and visiting Southeast is a waste. If companies do not invest in the area, then the area will continue to be impoverished. If the area continues to be impoverished, then the companies will be less likely to invest. In order to change this cycle, it must be stopped at its source, the mind-set of vendors, tourists and fellow DC residents.
The root of this cycle is not the Southeast residents, the community, or the economy; the problem is the stigma and fear that outsiders, like investors, tourists, residence of other quadrants who never travel south past the capital, and even news anchors, have toward Southeast. Driving through Southeast I saw more evidence of strong community bonds than I see in Northwest, DC. Churches, community centers, and family gatherings were abundant on the streets. Using these resilient and close-knit communities as the representation of Southeast, instead of the crime and poverty, would give the news topics to broadcast about besides crime and unemployment, would draw more visitors from other quadrants and tourists from other states, and would be a positive shift toward changing many widespread misperceptions.
Negative stereotypes and attitudes are reinforced by the drastic separation felt in DC. Kwame Appiah’s concept of cosmopolitanism, the idea of being responsible for other human beings regardless of geographical boundaries, is what needs to be accepted by each individual in DC. Through taking responsibility for fellow human beings, the divide that people feel between Southeast and the rest of DC would be eliminated. Every individual’s responsibility is to stop seeing the people of Southeast as the other and therefore, neglecting them. We are all humans, with human struggles. Whether our struggles are physical, financial, or internal, this universal struggle should unite us not polarize us further.
The end :)

Constant Protector
Sometimes I write poetry in my journal with things that God is speaking to me about. It lets me put my feelings into words. This poem is about how even when I think I am far from God or I think he isn't there for me, He is constantly with me. (Sorry if it doesn't make sense... my poetry sometimes only makes sense to me)
I am a runaway without a pursuer
I am a prodigal without a cause
I constantly stray and leave
because of perceived independence
but He doesn't chase me
No, He always remains
He is a patient Father waiting
Anticipating His child's return
He delights in my steps toward Him
even if I fail or fall
Even in my defeat and weakness
I am striving closer to Him
and He never leaves.

The Flu Strikes Again!
Hey All! As you can tell by the title of this blog, I got the flu AGAIN! So fun!! But anyways.....
On Saturday we had our end of the week big bash for Freshman Welcome Week. This included the freshman dressing in the costume that their family instructed them to. It was a lot of fun and there was a lot of dancing... Of course the Angels game was in the background and they lost again, but then they won one game, and then they lost horribly last night. But back to the party, the freshman did an awesome job of dressing up... I was very impressed! Shikara, my little sister, was of course the best! :)

I also was able to go to a very fancy dinner with my dad and some of his coworkers at 1789. It was a fabulous dinner and an awesome experience! I got a Bitter Pear Salad, NY Strip Steak, and Apple Cider Donuts and Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream for dessert. It was good food, good company, and a good time!

That is all... my birthday is tomorrow so I am hoping to be rid of this sickness by then!!

"It's like I am walking through a cloud..."
Let's get real... we had three days of fall in DC and then switched to winter! It has been 40 degrees and wet outside most of the week. When I say wet, I don't mean real rain I mean annoying misty disgustingness. Andy Staron said he felt like "he is walking through a cloud!" and trust me it's not as cool as it sounds.
Unfortunately, like I said in my last post this week is Welcome week for the freshman so we have had to modify some of our traditional events, like jumping in the Dahlgren fountain and such. On Wednesday we had our PJ Palooza Party on Prospect and it was an awesome night! The night included amazing food prepared by some of the seniors, annual upperclassmen Jeopardy, and a skit performed by the freshman! It was awesome.

Thursday was the scavenger hunt... It was raining all night so I am sure the freshman had fun with that but we still ended up meeting and taking a bunch of random pictures, which is always entertaining! The events tonight got postponed because of rain so hopefully we will be able to do them on Sunday.

Soooo let's just talk about how the Angels sucked it up against the Yankees tonight. They couldn't do any of the little things right and made so many stupid mistakes, but no big deal we will get them in Game 2.
Also, apparently some guy at my school went to Midnight Madness with a gun and proceeded to go into the men's restroom and shoot it. Yah I am sure he was drunk and stupid, but it caused mass chaos! They searched people and the Metro police, DOPS, and even Homeland Security were swarming the campus! They found the guy and it is all settled but how crazy is that?!? anyways..... Today was an awesome day and tomorrow I get to go to 1789 with my dad and his work colleagues which i am stoked about!
Peace,
Mac

Freshman Welcome Week!
Oh yes! The time has finally come where I can pay back all the humiliation that was served to me last year! This week is "welcome" week where we make sure the freshman know they are freshman. We make them do some crazy stuff, but all in good fun.. nothing dangerous or illegal. Let's see we kicked it off last night. We tried to scare them a little bit, but knowing our team it only worked so much.
Today is the day where they have to wear the crazy outfits that we bought for them, including a hand painted shirt, eye patch things, crazy hair accessories, candy necklace, and their sweat pants tucked into their socks. Oh what fun we will have! :) There are more festivities to come but this is a picture of the outfits:

So much more fun to be had to show our freshman how much we love them!! :)

Swine Flu and other news.....
I am finally back and i apologize for taking such an extended sabbatical from blog posting. Since it was so long since I last posted I have many events and happenings to catch you up on!
Let's go back a couple weeks to Homecoming... For all of you who have not attended Georgetown, Homecoming weekend is a huge event in the fall where a bunch of alumni come back and there is a football game and tons of parties. Luckily my coach gave us Thursday to Sunday off from practice, which was a much needed break! I had a somewhat nontraditional Homecoming weekend, which included amazing sightseeing on Friday with Demetria and Jordan. After that we went to a Nationals baseball game (I actually find it hard to call the game that the Nationals play "baseball")... We didn't really watch the game. We just enjoyed each others company, including Tina who came down for the weekend. On Saturday I attended a community tour of DC, which was mandatory for two of my classes, put on by the Center for Social Justice. Our tour guide was Father Kemp and he knew so much about DC, so it was a very interesting and informative tour. The rest of the weekend was spent making sure Jordan had seen necessary classic movies (aka Wizard of Oz and Meet the Parents) and just hanging out with my great friends!

This last weekend my team had games on Saturday against GW and Mount St. Mary's. Two games= two wins! Yeah baby! I didn't have my best game against GW but my team supported me with enough runs to leave us on top at the end! That'a way Hoyas! And Jillian Stanley one of my best friends is on GW so that was a sweet victory to say the least. After the games on Saturday, my team had our banquet for last year's season on Sunday. It was so fun to see all the parents and to get to celebrate our inaugural Big East season! Congrats to Jen who won MVP, Kelsie who won Most Improved, and Suria, Sam, and Kelsie for being named captains for this season.

Soooooo I don't want to be all dramatic and say that I am the next victim of the swine flu but.... I am sick in bed, which is noooo fun! Ugh I hate being sick... and missing the games today! Just got a text from Demi saying that they won the first game, which is awesome! I wish I was there..... So we have a three day weekend so hopefully I feel better by tomorrow. I actually feel better already so hopefully it stays that way. Until next time!

Oh practice how fickle a friend you are.....
Softball has once again started and is once again consuming most of my life. This is not always a bad thing because I love playing and being back on the field with my team, but man do I hurt! It is maxing week for weights so basically we do power clean, bench press, and squats at the highest weight we can possibly do. Ya fun stuff. So for those of you who don't lift that often, this means I AM SORE! Yes like currently I am laying on my bed with my head on the pillow because it hurts to even hold my head up.
On top of lifting we started practice again yesterday and man I can tell I didn't do much hitting or throwing over the summer! It has been great getting to know that freshmen and our new assistant coach. I think this year is going to be awesome! Coach Ayers is an awesome teacher and has great drills for us, which is very exciting.
So I am sore, but loving being back in cleats and on dirt!

One Week Down.....
Oh yes, my first week (if you can call three days of classes and then a three day weekend a week) of being a sophomore at Georgetown is now over! I have been to all of my classes and have not dropped any of them so I guess that is a good sign.
The first class I went to was Astronomy with a professor that I like to affectionately refer to as Santa Claus. Yes, I hope you currently have a sufficient mental image in your head of this guy. He is short, stout, with a long white beard. (Fun Fact #1: Come to find out he is a marathon runner... never would have guessed it.) Surprisingly, this class doesn't seem as intimidating as I once thought. My professor is animated and goes through everything step by step, so I am hoping it won't be too bad.
My next class was History of Ireland. I have to say the professor was quite into Irish history... who would have thought? Anyways, I was somewhat disappointed in this class because i was very bored as my professor outlined the background to Irish history, but hopefully that was just a bad first impression.
First Christians and Christianity Today was my next class. My professor is quite an old priest, but he seems to know everything there is to know about Christianity so I am very excited about this course. Unfortunately, I can rarely look at him when he is talking because he looks like he is in enormous pain but what he says is interesting. (Fun Fact #2: He hand wrote his syllabus, which is kinda awesome.)
Intro To Justice and Peace Studies is by far my most interesting and exciting course, mostly because I have never taken a class like it. The subject matter of the course is very hard to explain but basically it is looking at peace and justice studies from a neutral stance. The material is covered in so many disciplines, like psychology, philosophy, theology, government, and history, but peace studies tries to fill in the gaps and connect all of these disciplines. Anyways it sounds like my cup of tea!
Community Psychology... ya.... this class is extremely intimidating. Most of the work is intensely hands on and on our own time. For example, I am pretty sure next week I am going to be interviewing a principle of a school in downtown DC with a group of people that I have never met from the DC community. So that will be a challenge. Another assignment we are doing is collecting research to evaluate different community building organizations in DC. We have a reflection paper due every week and an intense group project. ya we will see how this one goes...
So those are my classes!
Softball starts tomorrow but drum roll please..... I PASSED my run test! Yes, that thing that I have been worrying about since the middle of May, yup it is over and I passed for the first time on the first try! I am so happy that my hard work paid off and I got my freaking sweet practice gear! People who didn't pass it are running again tomorrow so hopefully the whole team will have gear by practice tomorrow afternoon! We have our first game in two weeks which is RIDICULOUSLY soon! I can't believe everything is starting up again....
Chi Alpha is so exciting this year and I can't wait to see what God has in store for the semester! Jon, our new campus pastor, is so passionate and fired up about impacting this campus that everyone can't help but be passionate as well! We have already done events where we handed out free snowcones one afternoon and free pancakes one morning. This weekend we are teaming up with NCC the local church to do a service project in downtown DC. I am so fired up and excited about being involved with this group!
This weekend has been a long and enjoyable weekend. My friends celebrated Sophie's birthday by going out to a nice dinner, I got to catch up with Jill, go to a movie at midnight, and eat WAY too much food at my second home (Jill, Melissa and Demi's apartment). And to top it all off, Christina came for a surprise visit this weekend! It was awesome.... I miss that girl way too much! So all in all I am loving life right now. God has really blessed me with amazing people in my life and I am so grateful!
Mackenseylicious... (or however you would spell that)

The first class I went to was Astronomy with a professor that I like to affectionately refer to as Santa Claus. Yes, I hope you currently have a sufficient mental image in your head of this guy. Oh it's been so long since last we met!
Well readers if you know anything about Georgetown, you know that the title of this blog is the first line of our fight song! Yes I am back! I moved all my stuff in and made a magnificent Target run yesterday. It was completely exhausting! Thanks to the help of Demetria moving in was much easier.
My quaint, in other words small-ish, room is decorated and has been transformed into a cozy home! I love it! It is packed full with my stuff including my Friends and Patrick Dempsey posters. I am pretty sure that the air conditioning is broken but we are working on that and in the meantime I have a super powerful fan!
My roommate Skye also moved in yesterday. I can't wait for this year because we are gonna have a lot of fun!
Georgetown is just the same as I left it, but it feels so great to be back, even though it was sad to say goodbye to summer and my parents, who are on the road toward Massachusetts as I write. The next two days are pretty chill, except I have a softball meeting tomorrow night to kick off the year!
School starts on Wednesday. I am taking: History of Ireland, Community Psychology, 1st Christians/Christians Today, Modern Astronomy, and Intro to Justice and Peace Studies. Quite an eclectic bunch of classes so it should be pretty interesting.
It has been so fun to see some of my peeps but I can't wait to catch up with everyone that I have missed over the summer! Gotta love Georgetown!

Chicago and Kaitlyn!
Hello!
So my mom and I went to Chicago last week to visit Heath and Thais. They were moving on Saturday and they still had a lot of packing to do so we helped them pack some of their stuff. We also ate some amazing brunch two of the days we were there! It was a great time and I am really glad we were there to kick Heath's butt into gear so he could keep packing. I always love going to Chicago and I would love to live there one day. It is an amazing city!
The day after we got back from Chicago, my friend Kaitlyn was suppose to come visit, but of course the Massachusetts weather had a different plan. There were tornado warnings and suppose to be major thunder storms so her flight got canceled. She ended up coming in that afternoon. We made our famous pasta for dinner and then just hung out the rest of the night. On Sunday we went to church and then spontaneously decided to head up to Maine again! Well most of you will remember that there was a hurricane off the coast last weekend and unfortunately that made Maine unbelievably humid! So that was no fun but it was beautiful anyways! Then we went back home and played a game of Phase 10, which Kaitlyn won.. ugh!! The next day we all worked out and then got ready to go to a Red Sox game. The game was very fun, but once again Boston had amazingly humid weather so that sucked! We headed back on the train and didn't get home until around midnight! The next day was a chill day because she had to leave in the early afternoon. We watched Friends most of the day and now I have converted Kaitlyn into a Friends fan as well! It was really sad to say goodbye and I wish that she lived closer so that I could see her more often!
So now i only have two days until I head back to DC!! That means I have SO much to do!! haha so I should get going.... My next update will be from the amazing school of Georgetown University!! Hoya Saxa!!

The Olympic Joke....
It's crazy that the summer is going to be over in two weeks. I am feeling bittersweet about my return to the hilltop because I want to see my friends and get back into my much loved routine, but it has been very nice to have a summer to relax and enjoy.
In other news, the IOC has decided that softball is not good enough to be included in the list of sports for the 2016 Olympics. Apparently the USA dominates too much! WHAT THE CRAP?!? I mean hello? Did the IOC not do their job or did they just forget that the USA softball team earned the silver medal, falling to the very competitive Japan Olympic team in the finals. Softball has only been in the Olympics since 1996 so it is not surprising that only a couple teams dominate the scene! Anyways.. I obviously think that it was a bad decision, but I am sure the Rugby and Golf players are celebrating! So enough of my ranting...
Heading to Chicago tomorrow and then hosting Kaitlyn in the fabulous Shrewsbury! Hoping to end my amazing summer off with a bang! :)

Maine!
Hey readers,
I sit here typing this in the comfort of my own living room, only barely escaping the disgusting weather that surrounded me outside. I have decided that humidity is not my friend, in fact we are enemies. Humidity is evil, not only does it ruin a good hair day, but it causes things in my house to grow mold (Mold is another enemy but that is for another post) and it tries to suffocate and drown me in sweat every time I step outside. So I have just decided to unfriend humidity.
On to a new topic that is more relevant to my life and probably more interesting to you. A few days ago my parents and I traveled only an hour and a half north of good old Shrewsbury and landed pleasantly in Ogunquit, Maine. I never think of Maine as being a good vacation spot, seeing as I did move from one of the biggest US vacations spots so we never really felt the need to travel elsewhere. Actually whenever I thought of Maine I always thought of seafood, which i don't like, and freezing cold weather, which is never really a good addition to a vacation unless you are climbing Everest. Needless to say I left for Maine with no real expectations.
As we drove through Massachusetts then New Hampshire and finally into Maine, the scenery looked more and more inviting and quaint. I had fallen in love with Maine at first sight. I should clarify, this is not an unconditional love because I will not be visiting Maine in the middle of winter nor will I venture far off the coast of Maine, although I am sure there is beauty away from the coast.
We only stayed for Thursday and half of Friday but I had such a great time. The beautiful coast and quaint, friendly towns rivaled the beauty of the great state of California. I know, I know blasphemy, but don't worry California is still my favorite it just has some competition now. I could see myself living there in the summers. That is after I marry a millionaire because there is no way I would be able to afford any house in that area, but I can dream!

These and many more were taking on this great adventure! It was very refreshing and a good way to finish out the summer. Going to Georgetown soon and I can't wait to get back on the hilltop!

California Trip in a Nutshell
So my hair is a mess, I am somewhat dizzy and I can barely walk straight... Well, not really but those are probably some of the symptoms of being caught in a tornado, which I feel like I have. My California trip lasted about ten days; it felt like a year, but went by so fast! I had so much fun and have probably 500 pictures so instead of putting you through the bore of all of them I will give it to you in the nutshell version! (I already talked about Day one and two at Jill's house... I will pick up at Day 3)
It was Katie's birthday so we went to Disneyland! Yay!

Then Jenna's house... we went to the Angel's game..

Went to beautiful Laguna beach

Ate dinner at Hotel Laguna

Went to Pageant of the Masters

OC Fair

FRAY CONCERT

Disneyland with Jillian Webb!

AND FINALE IS... (DRUMROLL!!) The Nieces
Maddie

and Eva

I had soooo much fun! :) Thanks to all who let me stay at their house and made me feel so welcome! I loooooove California and wish i could have stayed longer :).....

Twinkle twinkle little star.....
“Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:3
My 2-year-old niece, Maddie, reminded me of this verse today. Nana and I have been visiting for the past two days and already Maddie and Eva have brought so much joy into our lives. Maddie is growing up and learning things by the minute. Time moves so quickly that sooner rather than later she is going to be a young lady. But for now she is just a little girl, and a cute one at that.
Back to the verse... Maddie was getting ready for bed the first night and Nana suggested going out and looking at the stars before reading the nightly bedtime story. Of course Maddie thought this was a great idea. She always likes any excuse to go outside and lay on her picnic blanket. So we gathered up the blanket and the tired Maddie and headed out to the back yard. We all laid down side by side and gazed at the stars. We sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and picked which star was "ours" for the night. After all of this we laid there quietly until Nana asked Maddie "Who made the stars?" In her cute voice she said "God and Jesus made the stars Nana." Maddie loved the stars and she was in awe of them. And at that very moment so was I.
There are not many times when I really take time and look at the stars let alone take time away from things like the computer or my cellphone. When my niece answered in her matter of fact tone "God and Jesus made the stars Nana" I was struck with this indescribable awe. God used that little girl to talk to me and show me the importance of admiring his creation and slowing down my life.
Jesus always admire and wanted to be near the young children. They are the ones who are willing to listen and believe what is being said. We lose this naivete in our maturity. While this maturing process helps us discern right from wrong, it also hinders our view of faith. There is nothing wrong with doubting and analyzing our beliefs but we must approach it with the humility of a child because we truly don't know anything. When I look at my faith I want to feel humble like I did sitting next to my niece under the vast night sky of stars.
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Mark 10:14

Day 2 and Day 3 of Cali!!
Okay so the last two days have been crazy and sooo fun!! I have been at my friend Jill's house and we have been doing all the California things... On Friday we went to the beach after I woke up and did my sprints.. Little did we know that the beach was going to have waves that were 8 to 12 feet... ya so it was mostly relaxing on the sand... There ended up being red flags up and down the southern coast. In Newport at The Wedge there were 20 to 30 foot waves so it was crazy and unfortunately a body surfer died there on Friday. Prayers are with his family.
After the beach we headed to Jill's gym so we could workout and then went to one of my favorite restaurants of all time! BJs... :) I ate my favorite salad and Jill, Kaitlyn, and I shared an amazing Oreo pizookie! After BJs we headed back to Jill's house to get ready for the Angel game which was freakin' awesome! :) here are some pics:

Me Jill and Katie!

Me and Kaitlyn :) :)

The beautiful California sunset

3-D glasses for the fireworks ;)
After the game we of course had to go for a late night run to In-N-Out which is always delicious.. And we continued our tradition of forcing Jill to eat a fry with ketchup on it.... :)

And that was Day 2 :)
Day 3 started off a little slow... :) So Katie had a friend that was at the Wedge (a beach and Newport) and he said there were 30 foot waves so we decided to go and see them.. we first stopped off at our traditional bagel store for some breakfast and then drove down PCH to Newport... Let me just say that none of us had ever been to this beach so we don't know how to get there. We ended up in Huntington so we knew we had gone to far. We ended up turning down a road and got stuck in major traffic and there was absolutely no parking so we decided to head back home. By the time we got back we had been gone for 3 and 1/2 hours and it was all driving in the car. So then we just chilled at the house for a little bit watching Friends. We got ready and then went to Disneyland. :) It was Katie's 18th birthday so we also stopped and she bought a lottery ticket. Here are some pictures from our amazing night (we decided to go around 6 and stay until closing which is 12):

It was soooo fun!! More updates to come!! :)
