Get by with a little help from my friends...

Okay so the whole first week of orientation was about meeting as many people as you can. Seeing as my freshman class is the biggest class to enter Georgetown, it is pretty crazy!! Now that it has been a couple weeks I have met some pretty cool people. Skye from Singapore, Nehal from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mridula from India, Ianthe from Trinidad and Tobago, Alejandro from Cuba, and so many more. As you can probably tell I have been hanging out with many international students. It has been so much fun and the transition to college has been a lot easier than I expected.
Softball has started. This Wednesday we had a run test that was a 300 yard shuttle. It was ridiculous, I think about 6 out of the 20 people passed. Seeing as most of you know my running ability you probably assume that I didn't pass which would be right. Therefore I have to do extra conditioning and retake the test. I also don't get any of my gear. So that is my update... We have our first real practice on Saturday (unless this crazy tropical storm actually hits and it pours). I am so thankful for Teamsmith the travel team that I have played on for like two years because it has prepared me so well for this softball experience. I miss everyone and I hope you are all doing well!!
I think it is crazy that Heath is going to be on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire and that Maddie has turned one!! Pray for my running and all the reading I have had to do... I really miss you guys!!

Who doesn't love some classes???

Okay so I have had and survived my first day of classes. So on Mon, Wed, and Fri I have Spanish and The Problem of God. On Monday and Wed. I have Religion and Society. On Tuesday and Thursday I have General Psychology and Intro to African American Studies. I like all of my professors so far and my class sizes range anywhere from 9 people in my religion and Society class to 80 people in my psych class. I have a lot of reading for my classes and some crazy papers but all in all I think I will be okay..Oh and my teachers range from a 30 something-year old Argentinean to a (I don't even know how old) Jesuit, Father King. Hopefully I won't have too many horror stories but I am sure there will be some.... I did my first load of laundry that was very successful and when I am not reading or doing stuff like that I am watching Grey's Anatomy in my room.... (I know lame) but I have met very interesting and diverse people and hope to meet even more.... I love you guys!! Call me whenever.. By the way pray for me because I have a run test on Wednesday that is going to be very difficult. I met all of the softball girls and coaches last night and they all seem very nice! I am excited for this year and I am sure it will be very memorable.....

Life on the Hilltop....

So now that I have lived on campus for ....hmmm... like only four days.... I don't really know a lot about it but I am enjoying myself. I am in Village C West on the sixth floor. My dorm is pretty quiet but I still have met quite a bit of new people. We are all in the middle of New Student Orientation or NSO and so it has been crazy and busy! But it is starting to wind down now and classes start tomorrow. I have met very cool people from all over the world and have been welcomed with open arms into the Georgetown family. I can't wait to start softball and even classes just so that I can be on a normal schedule again. I have met my roommate and, even though we don't see a lot of each other since she has volleyball, she has been very nice and this seems like it will be a great year! I said goodbye to my parents on Sunday, it was very sad but they were both excited for my new journey. They are looking for houses this week in Boston so hopefully they will find something that they like. I miss everyone back home and hope to hear and see people soon! So I am pretty bummed that I still haven't gotten to eat at Potbelly but I am hoping that is right around the corner...
Last night we went to this presentation called Pluralism In Action. It was about celebrating and embracing diversity on Georgetown's campus. They read excerpts from different entrance essays and many were shocking from a boy being the breadwinner of the family when he was ten to a girl who was in a refugee camp in the Congo. And yet now that we are all at Georgetown we are united by the fact that we are all Hoyas! We are Georgetown! So I am excited to hear and see all the different viewpoints and cultures that preside here on campus. Well I should probably get back to my day but please keep checking for more updates!
