Gimme a Break, gimme a break, break me off a piece of that....

Okey dokey.. or as my mother says oldy foldy.

I am writing this blog in the house of one of my best friends Jenna Stark. And you know what that means..... Yes! I am in California again! I don't think you will be getting any crazy pictures this time but I am having a whirlwind of a time already! I left DC on Thursday the 18th. I had my last final that day that got over at 2:30 and then my flight left at 5. After a lot of stressing over whether I was going to make it, I was on a flight to my home! I stayed with the Stanley's my best friend's family and my second family for the first two days. We had a lot of fun that included Katie's mom's amazing Cobb salad and a Mission Viejo soccer game. Then Jenna picked me up on Saturday and we have been chillin ever since. We got massages and I got an amazing manicure and pedicure.... Next I am off to my brother's house in Tulare for Christmas and then to Shrewsbury for a second Christmas with my parents, Heath and Thais.......

So I survived my first semester of college and it has been ridiculous. I can't believe that it is over. It has been full of surprises, lessons, and excitement. My first few months of life on my own and there has been very few problems. I have fallen in love with my school and have met some pretty amazing people. I have enjoyed the company of some of my closest friends, the girls on my floor Village C 6Y. They have been tons of fun and a home away from home. I have also been blessed with an amazing support system through Chi Alpha. I have met some of my closest friends through this campus ministry. God has been amazing for providing me with brothers and sisters in Him with which I can share everything. And last but not least God has given me a team full of great girls who have welcomed me immediately into the Hoya softball family. I couldn't not be more grateful for them!

As this holiday season winds to a close I am thankful for all the blessings that 2008 has brought. I am still working on my New Year's resolution but I hope that in 2009 I will be blessed with many more people who will be there for me even through my struggles. I will be very busy next semester since it is softball season but will be making many memories. If you are ever in the DC area stop by Guy Mason field and watch us kick some Big East butt!!! Hoya Saxa!

Happy Holidays! I will see you in the new year!

Adios Casa!!

So check out the post below about Thanksgiving! This post is dedicated to the memory of our house. My parents left on Saturday for Boston and we all said goodbye to 23982 Carrillo Drive... This house was the house I grew up in and I will miss it but will keep many memories about it!

Harvest Party 08

Hey!!

So I am involved in a ministry on my campus called Chi Alpha. I am in a small group study with four other girls where we are studying the book of esther. The whole group has an annual harvest party. This year it was on a farm in Fredericksburg, Virginia where there was pumpkin carving, hay swings, corn mazes and many other harvest festivities! So enjoy the pictures (some of them are blurry from hay and smoke in the air) (haha hay and smoke not at the same time because that might be a little dangerous) :)

Marshmellow roasting

Sarah swinging on a rope

Sarah and Clara (Clara has a hay allergy)

Ryan being weird and then us girls... Clara, Kathleen, Jess, Sarah

Us and some international students...

Scary picture in front of the corn maze

So that was our fun time!!!

Oh and congratulations to Barack Obama! And no matter how you voted we should all celebrate this historical moment and continue to pray for our country's leaders.

A New Age.... A New Identity

Hello Loyal Blog Followers...........

So as many of you know tomorrow is my 18th birthday. I am finally an adult and I can do fun adult things, like vote, buy cigarettes, get arrested and put in jail.... and many more enjoyable activities... On the eve of this blessed day of my birth, a thought occurred to me... I have always played it safe you know with everything from clothes, friends, school.... so I had a brilliant idea... I would change myself to usher in this new phase of my life and I also decided that if I am going to change why not go all out so for those of you who haven't seen me in a while.... this is the new me......

Yeah.... I am guessing you have probably realized by now that I was joking.... kinda obvious I know, but seriously.... I am an adult, when did that happen?? Anyways you are probably wondering what those pictures are from cuz its not like I dress up as a ghetto superstar everyday for kicks.... well this last week happened to be "welcome week" for the Georgetown softball team. This week entails endless fun for the upperclassmen as the freshman and newbies (our junior transfer Kelsie) get to do whatever they tell us to. There were many events and a lot of crazy outfits.... but it was super fun and I am sad that it is finally over..... Well the first night of the week which happened to be Tuesday because it was a holiday on Monday the newbies, which includes me, had to do a scavenger hunt that was set up by the upperclassmen. We started in Healy Circle and ended in the Dahlgren fountain. So here are some pictures from that crazy night (thanks to Kelsie's camera):

So our first clue took us to Hoya Snaxa where we had to buy a pregnancy test before getting our next clue and each clue was in the shape of a letter.....

The next clue took us to the top of Leavey......

Then it took us to the infamous green chair where we all posed like crazy people........ oh and by this time we were already ready to call safe rides to take us to our next location but ironically they didn't pick up.... at least we weren't in any real danger....

So the next clue took us down to M Street.....Then we went to Philly P's unfortunately without taking a picture

So then we were directed to the Exorcist stairs and man those are a pain to climb up....

Then our team of course made us find this book in the library and the clue was hidden in there..... and who knew how many people actually study at the library at Georgetown... I think we were annoying them..

The final clue took us to John Caroll where we were told to unscramble our letters and I finally figured out it spelled.......

Dahlgren and yes I am aware that we spelled it wrong and you know what that means.......

Fountain swimming with the team.... and if this scene is looking familiar to any of you... yes this is where Heath and Thais took some of their wedding pictures.....

And this is where we found out what outfits we would be wearing the next day....all day.....every class....

And yes I really walked around like that......

Then on Thursday we, after lifting, went to Suria and Liv's room and ate pizza, played upperclassman Jeopardy, and the newbies graced the upperclassmen with a witty and might I say quite funny skit.... a parody on many of our teammates and coaches.....

Friday was Midnight Madness!!!

So apparently we have a decent basketball team so this little shindig involved waiting two and a half hours just to get wristbands to get into the gym........ these were my waiting buddies in the freezing cold... okay it wasn't that cold but I was freaking wearing my Rainbows......
So it included performances by two of our dance groups, Groove Theory and our step team, and Jerry Rice's daughter sang and her father was also there and some famous basketball guys spoke and our teams were announced with some more dancing so it was pretty much a big deal....
Afterwards we hung out as a team and stuff....

Saturday now we are talking about the finale of Welcome Week and let me tell you it was big!!
So the newbies had to dress in the costume that the upperclassmen picked for you..... mine was ghetto superstar so that explains the pictures above.... others were an American Girl doll, Shrek,a pretty pink princess, a cracked out supermodel, the Quaker Oats guy....... so that was our fun party!! and it was fun walking around school in our costumes getting told that Halloween was not for another couple weeks.....

So that was our Welcome Week and it was pretty much fun!! So ya......... that is my update I hope you like it!!

So as I reflect on the last 18 years I think I have a lot of people to thank for making me who I am! So thank you!!!

Love you all!! Mackensey

Friends!!

Yes Folks.... I am finally getting around to your suggestions for my blog topics.... so one of them was pictures of my friends... well in my last post there were some of my softball friends but now I will show you just a couple candid/not candid shots of my friends from my floor.... (as we call it the international floor)...... so here goes nothing...

The Roommates from across the hall!! Nehal from the Democratic Republic of Congo on the left and Skye from Singapore who is American but is fluent in French....

Me and Mridula from India, this is her first time in the US... and if you can't tell we are at Chipotle... yes it was my suggestion....

Sophie surfing the net....

Ianthe from Trinadad and Tobago showing off Skye's keychain..

So Mridula had some problems with the whole taking the picture concept so this is an outtake....

So those are my closest friends...... who don't play softball... you know normal people =).... well I hope you enjoyed.. still working on some of the other requests...
Love YOu!!
