Constant Protector

Sometimes I write poetry in my journal with things that God is speaking to me about. It lets me put my feelings into words. This poem is about how even when I think I am far from God or I think he isn't there for me, He is constantly with me. (Sorry if it doesn't make sense... my poetry sometimes only makes sense to me)

I am a runaway without a pursuer
I am a prodigal without a cause
I constantly stray and leave
because of perceived independence
but He doesn't chase me
No, He always remains
He is a patient Father waiting
Anticipating His child's return
He delights in my steps toward Him
even if I fail or fall
Even in my defeat and weakness
I am striving closer to Him
and He never leaves.

The Flu Strikes Again!

Hey All! As you can tell by the title of this blog, I got the flu AGAIN! So fun!! But anyways.....

On Saturday we had our end of the week big bash for Freshman Welcome Week. This included the freshman dressing in the costume that their family instructed them to. It was a lot of fun and there was a lot of dancing... Of course the Angels game was in the background and they lost again, but then they won one game, and then they lost horribly last night. But back to the party, the freshman did an awesome job of dressing up... I was very impressed! Shikara, my little sister, was of course the best! :)

I also was able to go to a very fancy dinner with my dad and some of his coworkers at 1789. It was a fabulous dinner and an awesome experience! I got a Bitter Pear Salad, NY Strip Steak, and Apple Cider Donuts and Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream for dessert. It was good food, good company, and a good time!

That is all... my birthday is tomorrow so I am hoping to be rid of this sickness by then!!

"It's like I am walking through a cloud..."

Let's get real... we had three days of fall in DC and then switched to winter! It has been 40 degrees and wet outside most of the week. When I say wet, I don't mean real rain I mean annoying misty disgustingness. Andy Staron said he felt like "he is walking through a cloud!" and trust me it's not as cool as it sounds.

Unfortunately, like I said in my last post this week is Welcome week for the freshman so we have had to modify some of our traditional events, like jumping in the Dahlgren fountain and such. On Wednesday we had our PJ Palooza Party on Prospect and it was an awesome night! The night included amazing food prepared by some of the seniors, annual upperclassmen Jeopardy, and a skit performed by the freshman! It was awesome.

Thursday was the scavenger hunt... It was raining all night so I am sure the freshman had fun with that but we still ended up meeting and taking a bunch of random pictures, which is always entertaining! The events tonight got postponed because of rain so hopefully we will be able to do them on Sunday.

Soooo let's just talk about how the Angels sucked it up against the Yankees tonight. They couldn't do any of the little things right and made so many stupid mistakes, but no big deal we will get them in Game 2.

Also, apparently some guy at my school went to Midnight Madness with a gun and proceeded to go into the men's restroom and shoot it. Yah I am sure he was drunk and stupid, but it caused mass chaos! They searched people and the Metro police, DOPS, and even Homeland Security were swarming the campus! They found the guy and it is all settled but how crazy is that?!? anyways..... Today was an awesome day and tomorrow I get to go to 1789 with my dad and his work colleagues which i am stoked about!

Peace,
Mac

Freshman Welcome Week!

Oh yes! The time has finally come where I can pay back all the humiliation that was served to me last year! This week is "welcome" week where we make sure the freshman know they are freshman. We make them do some crazy stuff, but all in good fun.. nothing dangerous or illegal. Let's see we kicked it off last night. We tried to scare them a little bit, but knowing our team it only worked so much.

Today is the day where they have to wear the crazy outfits that we bought for them, including a hand painted shirt, eye patch things, crazy hair accessories, candy necklace, and their sweat pants tucked into their socks. Oh what fun we will have! :) There are more festivities to come but this is a picture of the outfits:

So much more fun to be had to show our freshman how much we love them!! :)

Swine Flu and other news.....

I am finally back and i apologize for taking such an extended sabbatical from blog posting. Since it was so long since I last posted I have many events and happenings to catch you up on!

Let's go back a couple weeks to Homecoming... For all of you who have not attended Georgetown, Homecoming weekend is a huge event in the fall where a bunch of alumni come back and there is a football game and tons of parties. Luckily my coach gave us Thursday to Sunday off from practice, which was a much needed break! I had a somewhat nontraditional Homecoming weekend, which included amazing sightseeing on Friday with Demetria and Jordan. After that we went to a Nationals baseball game (I actually find it hard to call the game that the Nationals play "baseball")... We didn't really watch the game. We just enjoyed each others company, including Tina who came down for the weekend. On Saturday I attended a community tour of DC, which was mandatory for two of my classes, put on by the Center for Social Justice. Our tour guide was Father Kemp and he knew so much about DC, so it was a very interesting and informative tour. The rest of the weekend was spent making sure Jordan had seen necessary classic movies (aka Wizard of Oz and Meet the Parents) and just hanging out with my great friends!

This last weekend my team had games on Saturday against GW and Mount St. Mary's. Two games= two wins! Yeah baby! I didn't have my best game against GW but my team supported me with enough runs to leave us on top at the end! That'a way Hoyas! And Jillian Stanley one of my best friends is on GW so that was a sweet victory to say the least. After the games on Saturday, my team had our banquet for last year's season on Sunday. It was so fun to see all the parents and to get to celebrate our inaugural Big East season! Congrats to Jen who won MVP, Kelsie who won Most Improved, and Suria, Sam, and Kelsie for being named captains for this season.

Soooooo I don't want to be all dramatic and say that I am the next victim of the swine flu but.... I am sick in bed, which is noooo fun! Ugh I hate being sick... and missing the games today! Just got a text from Demi saying that they won the first game, which is awesome! I wish I was there..... So we have a three day weekend so hopefully I feel better by tomorrow. I actually feel better already so hopefully it stays that way. Until next time!
