My Magnificent Trip to Beautiful DC....

Okay... so my trip was TOO short... I definitely just wanted to stay in DC... It also felt like we were on a plane for THREE DAYS... So here goes nothing...

Jill and I took a red eye on Tuesday night so that means we left at 10:45 pm from LAX and got into DC (after changing terminals and planes in Boston at 7 am) at 10:40 am. Then we did not stop... oh no we just started our day all over again. We headed over to my coach’s office and dropped off our stuff and then got a bite to eat (well it was a little more than a bite) from Chipotle on M Street. Then we climbed the Exorcist stairs and had fun with those. Then we went to Guy Mason Field and watched Georgetown beat GW (Jill’s team) twice. By the time the games were over it was 9 pm and let me tell you we were a little crazy with lack of sleep. So we decided to head over to Renee (Thais’ aunt)’s house and SLEEP!! What a novel concept….. =)

On Thursday, after a magnificent night of sleep, we walked down to the Tombs (an amazing restaurant on Georgetown’s campus). The Georgetown and GW coaches were both there so that was very fun. After lunch, we headed on the Metro (which let me say we are pros at) down to the Holocaust Museum. We went to the museum but little did we know that we had to have tickets to get into the permanent exhibits and they had given all of them away. So we decided to go to the American History Museum, but we were 0 for 2 because that museum we closed until summer for renovation. SO… we decided to take a long walk along the monuments to GW. We grabbed lunch at Potbelly, which is AMAZING, we are OBSESSED!! We had more time to kill so we asked Heath for advice and he gave us the best ever! He told us to go to Dupont Circle and check out Kramerbooks, which we also fell in love with (maybe a little too much because we both bought two books). We are definitely spending many days down at Dupont Circle.... not that we are going to have that much time next year. Then we went to Starbucks and then we reluctantly left Dupont circle to go back to Renee's house.

The next day we took a shuttle to the airport, grabbed some Potbelly to go, and headed back home on the longest flights of our lives..... We were so sad to be leaving and wished we wouldn't have gotten in trouble from our parents if we just missed our flight.

So this trip gave us a small taste and some practice for our future in college. We were proud of ourselves and I decided I have very good instincts when it comes to navigating DC, but I'm sure there will be many times when I get lost.... Well thanks for reading my long post...(for those of you who are still reading).

We should have just stayed in DC. What could our parents have done? Fly back and get us? Haha.

Yeah I definitely feel like I spent my spring break on a plane. But it was so worth it! Even if I think I did go a little crazy from the lack of sleep...
